“I work as a hairstylist for local TV and film productions. Last year, I was looking to find an intensive barbering course to beef up my resume and attract more clients in the film industry. “My grandfather used to take me to one of the oldest barbershops in town. I’d always stare at how the barber would skillfully shave his overgrown beard with a sharp cutthroat razor. I’d also enjoy the stories he and his barber would share — as if they were best buds. Since then, I’ve been interested in barbering.
Last year, I found out about Modern Male Barber Academy. I’m a high school graduate who jumps from one temp job to another. So when I saw the opportunity to build a career as a professional barber, I got excited. Fortunately, the school offered in-house financing options, so I did not have a hard time paying my tuition.
